HH Barnett
Sandford "Sandy" Howard Barnett (* 19th September 1908 in East Orange , New Jersey ; † 14. April 1988 in Oxnard , California ) was an American screenwriter , who at the Academy Awards in 1965 for calling The Great Wolf the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay Received.
Life
Barnett initially worked for the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency before becoming a producer and director of programs for the Lux Radio Theater in the 1930s . In the 1940s he wrote for these programs and then switched to the television program of the Lux Radio Theater as a writer in the 1950s . His literary adaptations of novels were great successes because he tried to maintain the basic idea and intellectual content of the original in the limited airtime of television programs.
In 1965 he received the Oscar for the best original screenplay for the template for the screenplay of Der große Wolf ruft (1964) by Ralph Nelson, together with Peter Stone and Frank Tarloff .
He then worked again for television and wrote scripts for television series such as Lassie (1968), Bonanza (1968), In the wild west (1970) and Adam-12 (1975).
