The locomotives of the 7000 series were tender - superheated steam locomotives with a 1'D wheel arrangement for freight trains on routes with a low meter load , which were built in 1922/23 by various German manufacturers for the railways of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (SHS).

history

The steam locomotives of the 7000 series were developed in 1913 on behalf of the then Serbian State Railways Srpske Državne Železnice (SDŽ) in Germany for the transport of freight trains on routes with a low axle load. Its construction was delayed due to the outbreak of the First World War. The delivery of the 100 locomotives took place in 1922 and 1923 in the form of German reparations payments to the successor to the SD®, the Železnice Kraljevine Srba, Hrvata i Slovenaca (SHS). With the SHS, the series was designated as SD® 7000, although the SD® no longer existed since 1919. The machines were used for transporting freight trains on main and secondary lines in Serbia and Croatia .

The locomotives of the Yugoslav State Railways Jugoslovenske Državne Železnice (JDŽ) and their successor Jugoslovenske Železnice (JŽ) were designated as class 26 from 1933 onwards.

technology

Because of the low meter load of 7.65 t / m, the two-cylinder superheated steam locomotives had a somewhat unusual appearance with center distances of up to 2400 mm. The long wheelbase led to tension and the resulting damage, despite the ability to move individual axles to the side.

The machines with the 1'D axis arrangement were the only JDŽ / JŽ series with a bar frame . They were with Heusinger control , Knorr - air brakes and a four-axle Tender equipped.
