history

The Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Pro Sesto was founded in 1913 in the city of Sesto San Giovanni , which now has around 77,000 inhabitants in the province of Milan in Lombardy . The first name of the newly founded club was Società Ginnico Sportiva Pro Sesto , which was converted into US Pro Sesto in 1927 . Under this name, the club recorded its greatest successes, which refer to the time immediately after the end of the Second World War . 1945 Pro Sesto was divided into the qualifying round for Serie B and could actually secure a place in this series B 1946/47 . And in this second division season, with a place fourteen in the Girone A, relegation was relatively close. Two points separated Pro Sesto from the first relegated AS Biellese . In the following year, Serie B was rearranged and only the first seven teams of the season qualified for next year's event. And seventh was the US Pro Sesto, tied with AC Crema , but with a goal difference two goals better. In 1948/49 Pro Sesto came in seventh again. At this point of the sporting climax, only a year later came the sudden relegation from the second highest Italian division. As the 22nd and last of the Series B 1949/50 with only thirteen captured points, the move to the third division had to be accepted. Only one year after relegation from Serie B in 1950, Pro Sesto suffered a second relegation and one was passed through to the Promozione and another year later to the Promozione Regionale.

So the US Pro Sesto disappeared for a long time in the deepest amateur football. It was not until 1966 that one could establish oneself in the D series again in the long term and establish itself there. Thirteen years from 1966 to 1979, the club played in Serie D before relegation to the promozione had to be accepted. In 1987, the club, which had meanwhile been renamed AC Pro Sesto , suddenly found itself in the C2 series and, after three years, made it to the C1 series in 1989/90 as second in the Girone B in the C2 series . There you could hold for a few years, then rose again in 1996 to return to the third highest Italian league in 2005. There you played constantly against relegation and fought more and more against financial problems. While the team had slipped back into Serie D by 2010, the club itself also experienced one of its blackest this year. The debts got bigger and bigger and so Pro Sesto went bankrupt in the summer of 2010 and was newly founded, accompanied by a fresh start in the seventh-highest division. From there, however, it was possible to return to the D series relatively quickly under the new name SSD Pro Sesto .
