The TSV 1899 Griedel eV is a German sports club based in the district Griedel the Hessian town of Butzbach in Wetteraukreis .
history
The club was founded in 1899 as a pure gymnastics club. The first name was the gymnastics club "Frisch auf" Griedel. In 1929 the handball department was founded. In January 1931, a football club that had already been founded was included as a department in the club. Due to friction between the members of the department compared to the previous gymnasts, however, the division again occurred in February 1932. The football club then continued to exist for some time. On May 13, 1939, the merger with the cycling club "Sturm" followed to form the now gymnastics and sports club Griedel.
After the end of the Second World War, a table tennis department was founded in 1953, which, however, was to be established as a separate club some time later. Due to a lack of active people, the gymnastics and cycling departments were stopped in 1958. From then on, the sporting business concentrated only on the handball department.

Floorball
Time as an independent association
The floorball department has its origins in the formerly independent club SV Floorball Butzbach 2004 . In the 2007/08 season , the team entered the first edition of the cup from the 2nd round . There you lost with 9.2 at SG Köln / Bonn . The next participation was then in the season 2009/10 in which one entered the competition again in the 2nd round and this time lost 1: 9 against ASV Cologne . After several other participations, it finally succeeded in the 2013/14 season with victories over the second team of the Floor Fighters Chemnitz and the Wikinger Munich to reach the round of 16. There was then at the SSF Dragons Bonn after a 10: 1 defeat then also over. The club then played independently until the end of the 2015/16 season.
As a department of the TSV
For the 2016/17 season, the club was part of a department of TSV Griedel. In the 2018/19 season of the Regionalliga West, they placed first in the Hessen season with 27 points and thus took part in the playoffs. In the semifinals they were able to prevail 16: 8 against floorball Mainz . In the final, however, they lost to TSG Erlensee after a 7-4 defeat in the first leg and a 6-4 win after extra time in the second leg. After the 2019/20 season, with third place in the group, she was able to participate in the playoffs again. However, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, these were not played out.
Handball
The handball department's game operations were often stopped in the early years due to a lack of players. Since the end of the 1950s, however, there has been a continuous game operation, in which the club was also able to play in higher regional leagues. The first men's team and the first women's team are currently playing in the central regional league.
