The Saarland men's national field handball team represented the Saarland at international matches and international tournaments.

Olympic games

The Saarland national handball teams did not take part in the only event in which field handball was played, as Saarland was not independent at that time.

The Saarland national handball teams took part in two field handball world championships . Participation in the other events was not possible because the Saarland did not have any state independence at the time, or there was no internationally recognized handball association for the 1948 World Cup.

  • The Saarlanders qualified for the 1952 World Cup with a 15:13 away win in Yugoslavia. In the final round they lost against Germany with 2:19 and against Denmark with 13:14.
  • At the 1955 World Cup, the Saarlanders won in the preliminary round against Luxembourg (31: 4) and Sweden (7: 6) and finished as group winners. In the second round they lost to the Swedes 9:12, defeated France 13:12 and lost to group winners Switzerland 8:13. The Saarlanders took third place and came into the final for 5th place, which was lost to Yugoslavia with 5:12.
