Sabien Lilaj (born February 10, 1989 in Maliq ) is an Albanian national soccer player . He has been under contract with the Israeli first division club Sektzia Ness Ziona since 2019 .
Career
society
Lilaj was trained in the youth of KF Tirana and rose there in 2008 from the U-19 team to the first team. In 2011 he moved to NK Lokomotiva Zagreb in Croatia. After a rather unsuccessful stay with only 15 league appearances, of which he only made four games over 90 minutes, he returned to Albania in 2012 and joined the KF Skënderbeu Korça . There he had his most successful time to date. He became a regular player and was Albanian champions four times in a row with the team between 2013 and 2016. He also played with the club in 2015 and 2017 in the UEFA Europa League . Skënderbeu was the first Albanian team in the Europa League in 2015 and Lilaj was the first Albanian double scorer in the Europa League with his first two goals in the 3-0 win against Sporting Lisbon on November 5, 2015. Due to this achievement, among other things, Lilaj was voted Albania's Footballer of the Year for the first time in 2015, and a second time in 2018. In July 2016, Lilaj was loaned to FK Kukësi . There, however, he only played two Europa League games and the loan was ended that same month. The 2018/19 season Lilaj played for the Azerbaijani first division club FK Qəbələ . A year later he then joined first division promoted Sektzia Ness Ziona in Israel .
National team
Lilaj played for the Albanian U-21 national team from 2009 to 2010 . On October 7, 2011 he made his debut for the Albanian national team when he was substituted on for Gilman Lika in the 81st minute of the 3-0 defeat in the European Championship qualifier against France .
