Sabine Rennefanz (born July 18, 1974 in Beeskow ) is a German journalist and author. She has received several awards for her texts. In 2013 she published the book Eisenkinder about the post-reunification generation in the new federal states .

Life

Rennefanz grew up in Eisenhüttenstadt . She comes from a family loyal to the system, her father was a career officer in the NVA (National People's Army of the GDR). She graduated from high school in Eisenhüttenstadt and gained her first journalistic experience at the Märkische Oderzeitung in Frankfurt (Oder) before studying . She then studied political science, first at the Free University of Berlin , and then at the University of Hamburg . She obtained her degree in Hamburg in 1998. She then completed a traineeship at the Jahreszeiten Verlag in Hamburg and then became editor of the magazine Petra . After a short time in which she worked as a freelance journalist, she became editor of the Berliner Zeitung in 2001 , where she initially worked in the media department. In 2003 she went to London as a correspondent for the Berliner Zeitung , and in 2008 she returned to Berlin. During her studies, she said she joined the evangelical Anskar Church in Hamburg for a while , for which she also went on a missionary trip to Russia. She later separated from this community.

In 2011 she published the article Uwe Mundlos und ich in the Berliner Zeitung , for which she was awarded the German Reporter Prize. She made this article (according to media reports) the starting point for a book about the post-turn generation that appeared in 2013 under the title Eisenkinder .
