The Viešoji įstaiga Sabonio krepšinio centras (abbr. "Sabonio KC", dt. Sabonis Basketball Center ) is a basketball arena and a basketball - sports school with 500 pupils aged 6 to 18 in Kaunas . The team “Sabonio krepšinio centras” plays in the region krepšinio lyga (RKL), other school teams play in the Kauno krepšinio mėgėjų lyga (KKML), Lietuvos moksleivių krepšinio lyga (MKL) and the European Youth Basketball League (EYBL). The team " Kauno Žalgiris-Sabonio mokykla " plays in the Nacionalinė krepšinio lyga . The students are called "Saboniukai". 13 trainers work in the school. There are partners in Finland and in the Netherlands.

sport Center

There are four basketball halls in the center, two of which meet FIBA requirements. The other two are only used for training. The main hall has 500 seats and is also suitable for other sports and events. There is also a training room and a cafeteria with daily lunch, a conference room with 30 seats for meetings and analysis of basketball competitions. The Sabonis Foundation ( A.Sabonio paramos fondas ) is also located in the center .

history

The Sabonis basketball school was planned after the 1992 Olympics . They were founded by Arvydas Sabonis (* 1964) and opened in 1994 on K. Baršausko Street. It was administered by Viešoji įstaiga "A. Sabonio krepšinio mokykla" in Pašilės Street, who became bankrupt in 2011. Later a new debt-free public institution (Viešoji įstaiga "Sabonio krepšinio centras") was founded.
