Sado Sathanas is a German black metal - band in 1996 in Dresden was founded.
Band history
Sado Sathanas was founded in mid-1996 and emerged from the band Dismal. At the beginning, the music style was not yet determined. A little later they decided to go for black metal and released a few demos until 2005 . It was not until 2005 that singer Giacomo Lehmann ("Omoziakk"), the two guitarists Martin Krell ("Lord Skull") and Martin Himstedt, drummer Sebastian Schröer ("Lord Sator"), Stefan Jähne ("Demonizer") on keyboard and bassist Ronny Schmidt established a permanent line-up and the band also began to play live regularly.
In 2010 the band signed with Black Blood Records, a sub-label of Einheit Produktionen . The album Opus Diaboli , originally conceived as a double album, was released there , consisting of old demo pieces and newly conceived pieces from 2006 onwards. In addition to some positive reviews, the album in Rock Hard by Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann received the rating “Ass Bomb of the Month” (worst record of the edition).
In 2014, Robert Brockmann, a new bassist, joined. In the same year, the second album Nomos Hamartia was released on Brockmann's label Naturmacht Productions ( Bamberg ) in an edition of 500 units. The album was produced by Michael Zech ( Secrets of the Moon , ex- Negura Bunget ).
Music style and lyrics
Stylistically, the band is based on traditional Black Metal, as it was modern until the mid-1990s. Comparisons were drawn with early Dimmu Borgir , Helheim , Immortal and Blut aus Nord , among others . In principle, the band name has no deeper meaning and only combines two words that occur in music - sadism and satanism .
“The name says it all, when you hear it you can immediately associate it with Black Metal. This is a bit of "Metal Esperanto " - the meaning of SADO SATHANAS can be understood in almost all languages, whether German, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, etc .: Everyone knows that it is about the exercise of violence in the name of Satan goes. Sadism and Satan - that's a nice combination of metaphors to explain our music and the concept behind it. "
The band distances itself from politics and rejects Nazi allegations. The texts are by Friedrich Nietzsche , Niccolò Machiavelli and Aleister Crowley . Topics are “power, violence and spiritual evolution” and “emotions, events, darkness and chaos”. The second album deals with a concept of power and order and their relationship to chaos. One song each was influenced by John Milton's Paradise Lost and Dante Alighieri's Inferno . The cover also refers to Alghierie's Divine Comedy and combined the Hell version with works by Hieronymus Bosch .
