Sahm specializes in particular in the design of branded glasses for breweries and other beverage manufacturers.

history

In 1900 Emil Sahm founded the company as a pewter foundry and produced lids for beer mugs. Eight years after the company was founded, Sahm began painting beer glasses . The company survived the First World War largely unscathed. Emil Sahm's brother, Eugen Sahm, went into business for himself in 1919 as a stoneware dealer and also developed his company into a glass refiner, today's RASTAL GmbH & Co. KG , based in the same town. Cooperation was discussed several times, but not implemented.

Sahm employed around 90 people in 1939. During the Second World War , production practically came to a standstill. In 1945, production was resumed with just eight employees, with the management being expanded by the founder Emil Sahm, his son Kurt Sahm and son-in-law Willy Völkl. A department was added to the glass processing company, which exclusively painted beer glasses and other glasses individually in order to meet the growing demand from breweries for beer glasses for collectors' purposes. In 1970 Wilfried Geissler-Sahm, Kurt Sahm's son-in-law, took over management.

After German reunification and the opening of the markets in Central and Eastern Europe , the company founded a subsidiary in the Czech Republic and branches in Ukraine and Slovakia in 1991 . In 2007 a decoration factory in Langfang ( China ) was put into operation. In October 2013, another production site for the USA and Canada in Toledo (Ohio) went into operation.
