Saint Savior ( Jèrriais : St Saûveux / St Sauveur) is one of the twelve parishes of Jersey .

The municipality is located in the central part of the island and comprises 5161 vergées (9 km², 8% of the land area of ​​Jersey). Neighboring municipalities are Trinity in the northwest, Saint Martin in the north and northeast and Grouville in the east. To the south is Saint Clement . One of the main borders goes to the island's capital, Saint Helier, in the west, for which Saint Savior, which is particularly urbanized in the west and south, has become a kind of suburb . The municipality in Le Dicq has a small area of ​​the south coast .

The ruling governor of the States of Jersey has his official residence in St. Savior .

The municipality is divided into six parts ( vingtaines ):

In Saint Savior, three constituencies have been established due to the size of the population

  • Constituency District No. 1 is exclusively the Vingtaine de la Petite Longueville and elects two MPs,
  • Constituency District No. 2 is exclusively the Vingtaine de Sous l'Église and also elects two MPs and
  • Constituency District No. 3 are the four remaining Vingtaines (de Maufant, de Sous la Hougue, des Pigneaux and de la Grande Longueville) for the election of a representative.

Saint Savior has four state primary schools ( Saint Savior School , Grand Vaux , Plat Douet and St. Luke ), with the exception of St. Luke, the schools each have a nursery . There are also three private primary schools ( De la Salle , St. Michael's and FCJ Primary ).

As secondary schools there are the state secondary schools (in about Realschulen, up to the age of 16) Grainville School and the Hautlieu School from the age of 14, whereby entrance exams are required for these. Personalities

  • Lillie Langtry (1853–1929), lover of King Edward VII , was born in the rectory of St. Savior and attended school here. Her urn was buried in the family grave in Monte Carlo in St. Savior after her death . A memorial in the community garden commemorates them.
  • Alexander Coutanche, Baron Coutanche (1892-1973), British lawyer and Conservative Party politician, Vogt (Bailiff) of the Jersey Crown Estate from 1935 to 1961, member of the House of Lords since 1961, was also born in Saint Savior.
