JP Morgan China Squash Open 2017

The JP Morgan China Squash Open 2017 took place from August 31 to September 3, 2017 in Shanghai , People's Republic of China . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2017/18 and belonged to the PSA 100 rating category . The women's squash tournament was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2017/18 and also belonged to the PSA 100 rating category .

Last year's winners were Mohamed Elshorbagy and Laura Massaro . Elshorbagy did not run again this year. The top seed Ali Farag and Ramy Ashour contested the men's final , which Ashour won in five sets. In the women's category, the top seeded world number one Nour El Sherbini secured the title. In the final she defeated Nouran Gohar .

The participant fields consisted of 16 players each, four of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Joe Wong in the men's and Li Dongjin a spot in the main draw in the women each.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money was 100,000 US dollars each for the men and women.
