Salt Fork Vermilion River

The Salt Fork Vermilion River is the right-hand headwaters of the Vermilion River in the US state of Illinois . The river is 121 km long and drains an area of ​​approximately 1,294 km² in east central Illinois (of which 937 km² in Champaign County and 357 km² in Vermilion County ).

The Salt Fork Vermilion River rises in northern Champaign County west of Ludlow. It initially flows in a predominantly southerly direction through Champaign County. It takes in the Spoon Branch tributaries from the left and Saline Branch from the right. Then he passes the village of St. Joseph and turns east at Sidney. It flows into Vermilion County, where it passes the town of Oakwood and finally meets the Middle Fork Vermilion River , coming from the north, west of Danville .
