Salzburg court music
In 1991, the Salzburg musician Wolfgang Brunner founded an ensemble under the name of Salzburger Hofmusik with variable line-ups from trio to orchestra .
The programs mainly include works from the 17th to the early 19th century, with the music of the court orchestra under the prince archbishops of Salzburg being a focus of the repertoire. The name "Salzburg Court Music" comes from the 18th century and was popularly used to refer to the prince-archbishop's court orchestra. At the same time, programs are being developed that show Salzburg's position in the musical history of Austrian and European cultural traditions. This includes the scientific processing, especially the development of new, previously overlooked or wrongly forgotten sources. In order to ensure the most authentic possible performance, the ensemble plays mainly (but not exclusively) on historical instruments or true-to-original copies.
