Wolfgang Brunner (musician)
Wolfgang Brunner (* 1958 in Regensburg ) is a Univ.-Doz. for historical keyboard instruments at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg .
Life
Wolfgang Brunner received piano lessons from his father during his school days. After graduating from high school from 1977 to 1981, he studied school music at the Munich University of Music and passed the state examination with distinction. From 1982 to 1986 he studied piano with Hans Leygraf at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg . From 1985 to 1989 he studied harpsichord with Liselotte Brändle, Kenneth Gilbert and Glen Wilson, fortepiano with Eckart Sellheim and Richard Fuller as well as historical performance practice with Nikolaus Harnoncourt .
Since 1985 he has been teaching historical keyboard instruments, figured bass, piano, piano improvisation and didactics at the Mozarteum University , and from 1990 to 1992 also fortepiano at the Karlsruhe University of Music .
Since 1989 he has made guest appearances at almost all major European early music festivals (including Utrecht, Bruges, Herne) and is now considered one of the leading specialists of his generation. His partners include well-known performers from the “early music scene” such as B. Michael Schopper , Barbara Schlick , Gerd Türk, Konrad Hünteler or the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra . He also worked as a soloist as a continuo player with well-known conductors such as Sándor Végh , Franz Welser-Möst , Helmuth Rilling , Sylvain Cambreling (among others at the Salzburg Festival ).
In 1991 he founded the “ Salzburger Hofmusik ” ensemble , which mainly, but not exclusively, deals with the music of the 17th - 19th centuries on original instruments, with the music of the Salzburg court taking a focal point in the repertoire.
Wolfgang Brunner's recordings and radio recordings include numerous first recordings, including a. the piano works by Anton Bruckner , ETA Hoffmann , songs by Carl Orff and Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber's opera “Arminio”.
In addition, Wolfgang Brunner dealt with dance studies and dance history for many years . In this context he studied music and theater studies as well as folklore in Munich and Salzburg. Brunner was a lecturer for historical dance from 1983 to 1988 and published essays and lexicon articles ( MGG articles " Arbeau " and " Branle ").
