The Sami Mosque , also Bait us-Sami ( Urdu بیت السمیع DMG Baīt al-Samīʿ , German 'House of the All-Hearer' ), is a mosque in the Schwarze Heide settlement area in Hanover in the Stöcken district . The mosque, which opened in 2008, is maintained by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat , a religious community that emerged from the Ahmadiyya movement.
mosque
The Bait us-Sami is the first and so far “only mosque in Hanover with a dome and proper minaret”. The mosque association started building the Bait us-Sami in November 2005 about 200 m from the settlement border . The mosque can hold 700 worshipers and has a minaret 18 meters high . This minaret is not used for the call to prayer . The property comprises around 2,800 m² and is located on a road to an industrial area outside the Schwarze Heide residential area.
In August 2008 the house of God was inaugurated by Mirza Masrur Ahmad as the spiritual head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. It is part of the religious community's 100 mosque project . In Bait us-Sami a Murrabi (educator) does his job. This is a special employee of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, as Islam has no priesthood.
Mosque community
The mosque community has been based in Hanover since 1980. In 1991, the company rented its own space above a supermarket for the first time. In 1998 the company moved to a rented single house in Ahlem . According to its own information, the mosque community has 300 members, including 100 children, in and around Hanover.
Others
The majority of the residents in the settlement area did not agree with the building project. Before the mosque was built, there were collections of signatures, appeals and auditions to the responsible administrative authority to prevent construction. The main reason given was concerns about noise pollution from major events.
On New Year's Eve of December 31, 2008, burglars ravaged the mosque. Entrance doors were demolished, around 15 window panes were smashed and three televisions were stolen. On February 6, 2009, Hanover’s Lord Mayor Stephan Weil visited the mosque community.
