100 mosques plan
Mosques of the Ahmadiyya in the Federal Republic of Germany. Red = opened, green = under construction, blue = property acquired |
The 100 mosques project is the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat's plan to build 100 mosques in Germany. The project was proclaimed in 1989 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Ahmadiyya by Mirza Tahir Ahmad , Khalifat ul-Massih IV., In a speech at the Jalsa Salana Germany.
execution
It was Mirza Bashir ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad's wish , the second caliphate ul-Masih , that there should be 2,500 mosques in Europe . First, in 1989, Mirza Tahir Ahmad called on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Germany to build 100 mosques in Germany in ten years. When it was noticed, however, that the goal could not be achieved in the desired time, the project goal changed to build five mosques annually by 2010. Now the goal is to give up backyard mosques and rented objects and to convert some into outwardly recognizable mosques.
In the Heinersdorf district of Berlin , the Khadija Mosque was built according to the plans of the architect Mubashra Ilyas; He also worked on the mosque designs in Stuhr near Bremen and Offenbach am Main. According to Ahmadiyya, the construction costs were raised from donations by the Ahmadi women ( Lajna Imaillah ).
Mirza Masroor Ahmad , the fifth caliphate ul-Massih , asked the Ahmadiyya Jamaat in Germany in 2006 to buy the missing land and to start building the mosque as soon as possible. In 2019 the goal was not yet achieved either; but there should be a focus on it. The mosque construction project is planned and carried out by an architectural office in Bait us-Sabuh .
financing
The community carries out nationwide fundraising for the 100 mosque project and keeps construction costs low by doing without expensive wall decorations and ceiling lights and by doing as much self-work as possible ( muscle mortgage ).
Each local congregation finances the construction of the mosque by collecting donations. The donations collected nationwide in other congregations are used by the head office for pre-financing.
The community does not use any third-party donations for their mosque buildings, which is why the limited financial power of the Ahmadis in Germany prevents the plan from being implemented more quickly.
reception
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat's project arouses considerable reservations among parts of the population and in some cases meets with strong resistance. In Schlüchtern and Berlin-Heinersdorf in particular , citizens' initiatives vehemently opposed the construction of a mosque. In most cases, however, the reservations were overcome after initial difficulties.

Bought building | The community has around 300 members in the vicinity of Groß -zimmer. The prayer room in Waldstrasse became too small, so the AMJ bought the site with the former inn "Waldeck" ( locality ) to build a mosque there. Before the purchase, the Ahmadiyyas asked if there was anything against such a project and were told that this was described as permissible in the development plan. At that time, the building supervision of the district did not issue a building permit because the plan exceeded the building area. In 2007, a change ban was placed on the building project in the municipal council. As a result, the development plan was changed so that it could no longer be used for religious purposes. A judicial review of the development plan change showed no real progress. The Ahmadiyya press spokesman expressed his hope: “Maybe we can continue to use the house without the minaret as before. This is also possible elsewhere without any problems. ”The request by the Green parliamentary group on June 21, 2011 did not result in any further clarification. | ||||

in planning | First, a building permit was obtained for a plot of land in Niederzell ( locality ), then the construction of the mosque was prevented for the time being for the alternative property "Auf der Landwehr / Reitstück" ( locality ) offered by the city with a subsequent development plan change. Since then the project has been on hold. The Ahmadiyya members continue to want their own mosque. |
