San Andrés is a town in the Tarija Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

San Andrés is the largest town in the canton of Lazareto in the municipality of Tarija in the province of Cercado . The village is located at an altitude of 1982  m between the Río San Andrés north and the Río Pinos (also Río Tolomosa ) south of the municipality, both of which flow into Lake San Jacinto .

geography

San Andrés is conveniently located between the different climate zones of the country, on the edge of the Andes at an altitude of almost 2000  m , so that mostly mild and pleasant weather prevails (see climate diagram Tarija). In the rainy season between December and February (summer months) there are frequent torrential thunderstorms. The rest of the year is extremely low in precipitation.

Transport network

San Andrés is located sixteen kilometers by road southwest of Tarija , the capital of the department.

Tarija is on the Ruta 1 highway , which crosses the Bolivian highlands from north to south and runs from Desaguadero on the Peruvian border via the metropolises of El Alto , Oruro and Potosí to Bermejo on the Argentine border.

You leave Tarija in a westerly direction via the Puente San Martín, which crosses the Río Nuevo Guadalquivir and is called Av. Héroes de la Independencia between the two districts of San Martín in the north and Senac in the south. On the outskirts, the road turns south-west and leads via Turumayo , Lazareto and Guerra Huayco to San Andrés .
