Attractions

The town hall with its brick porch and the archway below is somewhat reminiscent of a mansion in the American southern states . Its minaret-like bell tower in the palm-fringed complex of the parish church in Plaza Léon y Castillo is striking. The Iglesia de San Martín was founded by Cayetano Guerra in 1787 and built in 1789. The interior of the single-nave church is fitted with a Mudejar-style coffered ceiling. The altars are presented in rustic, simple neoclassicism . The pillars and floor of the church are carved from light gray volcanic stones.

Monumento al Campesino

The Tanit Ethnographic Museum is housed in an 18th century building and was inaugurated in February 2000. The Ajey cultural center is also located in a building from the 18th century. There you can see many tools of the Canarian farmers.

The Monumento al Campesino (Peasant Monument ) is located in the village of Mozaga . It is a typical example of traditional rural architecture. Here is the monument to fertility, which symbolizes the cohesion of peasant society. It was realized by Jesus Soto based on designs by the artist and conservationist César Manrique . The homestead houses a museum, bar, restaurant, shop, workshops and a handicraft museum.
