San Juan de Taperas (also: Las Taperas or Taperas ) is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

San Juan de Taperas is the central place of the canton of San Juan de Taperas in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San José de Chiquitos in the province of Chiquitos and is located at an altitude of 373  m east of the city of San José de Chiquitos at the eastern end of about 90 kilometers long ridge, which has its highest point a few kilometers west of Taperas in Cerro Botija with 808 meters.

The climate of the region is subtropical and semi-humid , the plain directly north of Taperas is humid and crossed by numerous streams, so that it has so far hardly been developed agriculturally.

The road leads via Patacamaya , Cochabamba and Villa Tunari to Santa Cruz and from there on via Cotoca , Pailón and San José de Chiquitos to Taperas and via Roboré to Puerto Suárez .
