from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sana Salous (born March 13, 1955 in Duma, Rif Dimaschq Governorate , Syria ) is a Palestinian communications engineer with Jordanian and British citizenship.

Educational path

In 1962 her family moved from Syria to Nablus in the Jordan- annexed West Bank , where they started school, and a year later to Amman . From 1970 to 1972 she attended the Zein Al Sharaf High School for Girls in Amman, where she passed the national high school diploma in 1972. As a scholarship holder of the United States Agency for International Development , Salous studied electrical engineering at the American University of Beirut , where she graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1978. After a stay at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig she walked with support from the Royal Aircraft Establishment as a doctoral student at the University of Birmingham , where in 1984 with a thesis on high-frequency radar channels under the supervision of EDR Shearman doctorate was. In 1999 she qualified as a professor at the University of Rennes I .

Working life

After stints at Yarmuk University and Jordan University of Science & Technology, she went to the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) as an Junior Professor in 1988 , where she became a professor in 2002 . In 2003 she accepted a call to Durham University for the chair of communications engineering. She is the UK delegate to the International Union of Radio Science , Managing Editor of Radio Science, and is a member and fellow of the IET .

research

Sana Salous investigated the transmission of electrical signals in different wavelengths with the help of an FMCW radar device she had developed . In the high-frequency wave range , she and M. Musa developed a signal that resolves high values of the Doppler effect with low repetition . This technology is used in oceanography to measure wave heights . With EDR Shearman she analyzed the distortion of high-frequency signals in the ionosphere . With various co-authors, she investigated the data transmission rate of multi-variable systems of the decimeter wave over short distances, such as those used for image transmission in studios.
