Career

Club career

Beginnings in France and Bosnia

Jahić began his career in the offspring of Racing Strasbourg and moved from there to FC Sochaux , where he also signed his first professional contract in July 1999. There the Bosnian rose to the French Ligue 1 in the first year , but did not play a game, which is why he moved to the Bosnian first division club FK Željezničar Sarajevo in July 2001 . There the two-footed defender played fifteen league games and two UEFA Cup games and won the Super Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2001, the championship in 2000/01 and 2001/02 and the Bosnian Cup in 2003 .

Career in Spain

In the spring of 2004, Sanel Jahić moved to the then Spanish second division UD Las Palmas on a free transfer. At the second division, Jahić made three goals in 25 games. His good performance at the club from Las Palmas aroused the interest of the league competition and so Jahić moved to UD Mérida in July 2005 , where he played ten games and scored one goal.

Return to Sarajevo and the Greek League

In July 2006, Sanel returned to Željezničar Sarajevo , where he was often used as a striker . Jahić scored ten goals in the middle of the 2007/08 season and became the Bosnian top scorer before going to the then Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki in spring 2008 for a transfer fee of 20,000 euros . For the 2009/10 season , the Bosnian national player signed a contract until 2013 and switched to league rivals AEK Athens for around 600,000 euros .

APOEL Nicosia

For the 2011/12 season he moved to APOEL Nicosia , where he could not assert himself; he only played eleven games, and after only six months he left the club. He made his first game on August 29, 2011 against AEK Larnaka , his last on January 8, 2012 against Alki Larnaka .

Kardemir Karabükspor

Shortly before the end of the 2011/12 changeover period, Jahić moved to Kardemir Karabükspor for 300,000 euros . He signed a 2½ year contract. He made his first game on January 21, 2012 against Trabzonspor , where he also scored his first goal in a 2-1 win. In the summer he dissolved his contract after mutual agreement with the club's management and left Karabükspor.

National team

During his time at FC Sochaux, Jahić was an integral part of the Bosnian U-21 national team . In November 2007 he was nominated by the then national coach Fuad Muzurović for the last qualifying game against Turkey . He didn't play, but the nomination itself “was a great honor” and the fulfillment of his childhood dreams , according to Jahić. He has become an integral part of the senior national team . His first goal for Bosnia was the intermittent 2: 1 (final score 4: 2) in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup on March 28, 2009 in the game against Belgium .
