Sanjeev Kumar
Sanjeev Kumar ( Hindi , संजीव कुमार, Sanjīv Kumār; born July 9, 1938 in Mumbai , Maharashtra ; † November 6, 1985 there ; real name: Harihar Jariwala ) was an Indian film actor.
Life
Sanjeev Kumar was born into a family of Gujaratis . After he tried his hand at the theater and attended drama school, he made his first film appearance in 1960. The early films of his career are all of poor quality. It wasn't until 1968 in Sanghash with Dilip Kumar that his talent was noticed and he got leading roles alongside stars like Nutan and Waheeda Rehman . He achieved fame with award-winning films Khilona and Dastak , both in 1970. Alongside Tanuja in Anubhav (1971), Kumar also demonstrated his above-average acting skills. In the classic Sholay he played Thakur Baldev Singh alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra .
In 1977, Sanjeev Kumar took the opportunity and starred with Saeed Jaffrey in Satyajit Ray's only non-Bengali film Shatranj Ke Khilari (The Chess Players).
In the 1980s he again achieved great achievements with his roles in Vidhaata (1982) and Hero (1983), both of Subhash Ghai . Sanjeev Kumar died of heart failure unmarried. He has acted in more than 100 films and received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1975 and 1976.
