According to the online database transfermarkt.de , which specializes in football , Southern Samity , a club from Calcutta founded in 1945, was a youth club of Sanjiban Ghosh in the 2010/2011 season. According to the English-language online magazine goal.com , he became active there at the age of 17, i.e. in 2008 or 2009.

He then played for Mumbai FC in the I-League (according to the Weltfussball.de database until 2016) and for Delhi Dynamos FC , a soccer franchise from New Delhi in the Indian Super League . He made his debut on the pitch at Mumbai FC in 2012 against Salgaocar Sports Club from Goa . The seasons for Delhi Dynamos took place on loan. The loan from Delhi Dynamos was born out of necessity in 2015, as two regular goalkeepers were injured and needed time for convalescence. On the same day as the media reported on the signing, Ghosh played his premiere game against franchise FC Goa , which prevailed 2-0.

After his contract with Mumbai FC expired at the end of 2016, he was without a club for about half a year. In the summer of 2017, he then joined Jamshedpur FC for one season . In doing so, he was drawn into the tenth round of the draft system. At the end of this season he met the new I-League champions Minerva Punjab FC with his club in the Supercup and became a hero in the ultimately successful penalty shootout because of his saves.

In the summer of 2018, Chennaiyin FC , then reigning champions of the Indian Super League , announced the two-year commitment of Sanjiban Ghosh and - with a one-year contract - the commitment of Nikhil Bernard as another goalkeeper. There was no transfer fee for Ghosh.

National team

Sanjiban Ghosh received his first invitation to a game of the Indian national soccer team in October 2015 on the occasion of a qualifier for the soccer world cup 2018 against the team of Oman.

In summer 2018 he was one of the 30-strong preselection that was preparing for the Intercontinental Cup 2018 , a competition held in India for the first time in 2018 for four teams from three regional confederations of the world football association FIFA .
