Sansevieria roxburghiana is a species of plant in the genus Sansevieria in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). The specific epithet honors the discoverer of the species, the Scottish botanist and doctor William Roxburgh .
description
Sansevieria roxburghiana grows stemless as a perennial , succulent plant with creeping rhizomes . The 6 to 24 leaves arranged in rosettes and linearly shaped are slightly bent back. They have a deep groove on the top. The simple leaf blade is 20 to 60 centimeters long and 1.3 to 2.5 centimeters wide and gradually narrows into a soft and 6 to 50 millimeter long blade tip. The leaves are green with dark green, irregular transverse bands and with six to eleven longitudinal lines on the back and one to three dark green longitudinal lines on the upper side. The edge of the spread is green, turning whitish with age. The leaf surface is smooth, while the underside is slightly rough.
The single- eared inflorescences are 30 to 76 centimeters high. The panicles are 25 to 38 centimeters long and have more or less than four flowers per clump. The bract is 3 to 4 millimeters long and narrowed lanceolate. The flower tube is 6 to 7.5 millimeters long. The tips are 8.5 to 9.5 millimeters in size.

It was first described in 1829 by Julius Hermann Schultes . Synonyms for Sansevieria roxburghiana Schult.F. are: Acyntha roxburghiana (Schult. & Schult.f.) Kuntze (1891), Cordyline roxburghiana (Schult. & Schult.f.) Merr. (1923) and Sansevieria zeylanica Roxb. (1805, nom. Illeg. ICBN -Article 53.1).
