The location of Santa Monica Bay in the Pacific Ocean off Los Angeles

The Santa Monica Bay ( english Santa Monica Bay ) is on the eastern edge of the Pacific Ocean in the southern US state of California . It extends from the coastal settlements of Point Dume in the northwest to Palos Verdes in the southeast. Its eastern edge also forms the western border of the city of Los Angeles and its southern suburbs.

The small rivers Ballona Creek , Malibu Creek and Topanga Creek flow into the bay . Despite numerous cleaning measures since the early 1980s , the bay still suffers from algal blooms and other environmental damage caused by water pollution. Especially in the rainy winter months, a lot of pollution from the city gets into the waters of the bay via the rainwater channels and rivers.
