Santiago "Santi" Yusta García (born April 28, 1997 in Madrid ) is a Spanish basketball player . He plays in the position of the small forward .
career
Santi Yusta began his junior career at Baloncesto Torrejón in the Madrid suburb of Torrejón de Ardoz . In the summer of 2010, the then 13-year-old joined Real Madrid's youth team . There he celebrated numerous successes at the junior level. In the 2013/14 season he won the Spanish A youth championship with his club and reached the final of the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament , which is held annually parallel to the EuroLeague and is the most important continental tournament for juniors. On May 20, 2014, the then 17-year-old Santi Yusta made his debut in the ACB league in a championship game against San Sebastián Gipuzkoa BC . In the 2014/15 season he was not only able to successfully defend the championship with Real Madrid's A-youth team, but this time secured the title at the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament on an international level . In the ACB league, Yusta made four appearances and won the Spanish championship with his team.
In the summer of 2015, Yusta was signed by Obradoiro CAB . He developed into an important player for the Galicians and was elected to the U-22 All-Tournament Team of the ACB League at the end of the 2015/16 season. After the 2015/16 season, Real Madrid made use of a buyback option and signed Santi Yusta.
National team
Santi Yusta won the 2013 European Championship with Spain's U-16 national team, while the Iberians beat Serbia 65:63 in the final. With an average of 13.3 points per game, he was the best scorer of his team. In 2014 he reached fourth place with his country selection at the U-17 World Cup, again he led the statistics of his team with 14.1 points per game. In 2015 he played the U-18 European Championship with Spain, but was only able to reach seventh place. In 2016 he was in the squad of the Spanish U-20 national team and won the gold medal with a 68:55 in the final against Lithuania. He made his senior national team debut on July 1, 2018 in a game against Belarus in the course of the 2019 World Cup qualification .
