Sapwaturrahman gained his first international experience at the World Youth Championships in 2011 near Lille , where he made it to the semi-finals in the 100-meter run and was eliminated over 200 meters with 22.13 s in the preliminary run. The following year he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou over 60 meters, in which he was eliminated with a new national record of 6.73 s. Also in the semifinals, he was eliminated from the Asian Junior Championships in Colombo over 100 meters. In 2013 he took part in the World Championships in Moscow over this distance and reached the preliminary round there. He was then in the Southeast Asia Games in Naypyidaw in 10.65 s fourth in the 100 meters. In 2015 he finished eighth over 200 meters in 21.74 s at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore . In 2018 he took part in the long jump at the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he won the bronze medal behind the two Chinese Wang Jianan and Zhang Yaoguang with a new national record of 8.09 m . At the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha , he failed to make a valid attempt in the final. At the beginning of December he won the Southeast Asian Games in Capas with a new game record of 8.03 m in the long jump and with a new national record of 16.21 m in the triple jump he won the bronze medal behind the Malaysian Muhammad Hakimi Ismail and Mark Harry Diones from the Philippines.
In 2010, 2017 and 2019 Sapwaturrahman became Indonesian champion in the long jump and in 2011 and 2013 in the 200-meter run .
