Muhammad Hakimi Ismail (born April 8, 1991 in Taiping ) is a Malaysian triple jumper .

Athletic career

Muhammad Hakimi Ismail gained his first international experience at the 2007 Youth World Championships in Ostrava , where he was eliminated from the qualification with 14.56 m. At the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune the following year, he finished sixth with 14.88 m. In 2011 he qualified for the Asian Championships in Kobe , where he came in sixth with 15.77 m. He then finished fourth at the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang with 15.92 m, as well as at the 2014 Indoor Asian Championships in Hangzhou with a new indoor record of 16.00 m. In 2013 he won the silver medal behind the Vietnamese Nguyễn Văn Hùng at the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw with 16.44 m . In the summer he took part for the first time in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , and finished sixth with a width of 16.29 m. In 2015 he won the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore with 16.76 m and finished fourth at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju with 16.59 m. He also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 15.93 m in qualification .

In 2016 he finished seventh at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha with 15.75 m and fifth at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 15.97 m. He then won the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur with a new national record of 16.77 m. In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time, finishing ninth there with 15.97 m. At the end of August he also took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he was seventh with 16.15 m. The following year he reached eighth place at the Asian Championships in Doha with a jump to 15.83 m. At the beginning of December he defended his title at the Southeast Asian Games in Capas with 16.68 m.

In 2013, 2018 and 2019 Ismail was the Malaysian champion in the triple jump.
