Sarah Joelle Gregorius (born August 6, 1987 in Lower Hutt ) is a New Zealand soccer player who is active for the New Zealand national team .

Career

Gregorius moved from Eastern Suburbs AFC to Bad Neuenahr in summer 2011 . She made her Bundesliga debut on the first matchday of the 2011/12 season against SC Freiburg . Gregorius scored her first two goals for Bad Neuenahr on November 6, 2011 in a 2-0 win against FCR 2001 Duisburg . In the summer of 2013 she moved to England for Liverpool Ladies FC , with whom she was able to celebrate the championship in the FA WSL at the end of the season . As a result, Gregorius joined the Japanese first division club AS Elfen Saitama . In February 2016, she moved to Konomiya Speranza FC Osaka-Takatsuki within Japan .

National team

Gregorius played eleven times for their country's U-20 team in 2006. She has also been a player for New Zealand's senior team since 2010, making her debut on September 29, 2010 in a 14-0 win against Vanuatu in the 2010 Oceania Women's Soccer Championship . Two days later, she scored her first three international goals in a 10-0 win against the Cook Islands . She also contributed at least one goal in each of the following three tournament games, won the Oceania championship 11-0 in the final against Papua New Guinea for the first time and qualified with the team for the 2011 World Cup. With seven goals she was together with her teammate Hannah Wilkinson second best goalscorer of the tournament. Gregorius was part of her country's selection at the 2011 World Cup . It was used in the three group games after which New Zealand was eliminated. In 2012 she was with the New Zealand national team at the Summer Olympics in London . The New Zealanders played the opening game against hosts Great Britain , which was lost 1-0. With the 3-1 win against Cameroon in the last group game, New Zealand was able to win a game in a major intercontinental tournament for the first time, to which she contributed with a goal. New Zealand survived the group stage for the first time and made it into the quarter-finals as one of the two best thirds in the group. There they lost against the eventual gold medalist USA with 0-2. With the victory at the Oceania Women's Football Championship in 2014 , the New Zealanders qualified for the 2015 World Cup. In this, she was in the squad and was used in the three group games after which New Zealand was eliminated. In July 2016, she was added to the squad for the 2016 Olympic Games. After the Olympic Games, in which she was used in the three group games, she initially ended her international career, but was nominated again in February 2018 for two games against Scotland in March. It was then used in the next few games, such as the 2018 Oceania Women's Soccer Championship . There she was together with Meagen Gunemba (Papua New Guinea), with eight goals each top scorer. The New Zealanders won the tournament with five wins and scored 43 goals. This qualified them for the 2019 World Cup and the 2020 Olympic Games . At the end of April she was nominated for the World Cup in France .
