Sarah Monzani (* Spring 1949 in Hempstead , Hertfordshire ) is a British make- up artist for British and American films who won the 1983 Oscar for best make-up .

biography

Sarah Monzani, who was born in the second quarter of 1949, began working as a make-up artist and hairstylist in film productions in the mid- 1970s and was involved in the creation of a film for Knots by David Munro for the first time in 1975 .

For the make-up in the adventure film In the Beginning Was Fire (1981) by Jean-Jacques Annaud , she and Michèle Burke won the Oscar for best make-up at the 1983 Academy Awards . For this she received the British Academy Film Award (BAFTA Award) for the best mask together with Michèle Burke and Christopher Tucker .

In 1997 she was nominated alongside Martin Samuel for another British Academy Film Award for best mask, namely for Evita (1996) by Alan Parker . For the mask in the fantasy film The Cabinet of Dr. Parnassus (2009) by Terry Gilliam , she was not only nominated for another BAFTA Award in 2010, but also in 2010 for a Saturn Award for the best make-up of the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films .

Other well-known films with make-up designed by her include Alien - The uncanny creature from a strange world (1979) by Ridley Scott , the comedy film Club Paradise (1986) by Harold Ramis and Operation Walküre - Das Stauffenberg assassination (2008) by Bryan Singer .
