Alon Sariel (born 1986 in Be'er Scheva ) is an Israeli conductor , founder of an ensemble and in an orchestra or as a soloist on the mandolin , lutenist and harpist .

Life

Born in the so-called “capital of the mandolin” in the southern Israeli city of Be'er Scheva, Alon Sariel began his musical studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance , where he graduated as a Master of Music . Sariel then studied in Belgium at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in order to continue his education at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH) in the capital of Lower Saxony .

In addition to studying mandolin playing as a soloist and in concert, Sariel also trained as a lutenist, studied the baroque harp and trained as an orchestra conductor . To this end had him Daniel Barenboim inspired, with whom he in the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra worked.

After moving to Hanover in 2010, Sariel learned the trade of Kapellmeister at the University of Music and Theater . There he founded the Ensemble Concerto Foscari , with which he developed elaborate programs and performed them in the Großer Garten Herrenhausen . The name of the ensemble refers to the Venetian Palazzo Foscari , in which the Guelphs took up residence during the Electorate of Hanover and celebrated the Carnival in Venice .

Alon Sariel worked and directed many of the Camerata Medica , the Göttingen Youth Symphony Orchestra , the International Ensemble Hanover and the Israeli Early Music project . He is also a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. His recordings have been recorded under the music labels Naxos and Albany Records , among others .

Awards

Alon Sariel is the winner of several important music competitions.

The award of the Opus Klassik in Berlin in the category “Concert Recording of the Year” (music up to and including the 18th century) for Sariel's album “Telemandolin” has been announced for Sunday, October 14, 2018 . The prize was awarded during a gala moderated by Thomas Gottschalk in the Berlin Konzerthaus.
