Sascha Höpfner (born September 26, 1970 ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

Sascha Höpfner started his career with the amateur team from Hertha BSC . With this he should cause a sensation in the 1992/93 season in the DFB-Pokal when he made it to the final with the Hertha-Bubis . On the way there, defending champions Hannover 96 (4: 3) and Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg (2: 1) were defeated. In the semi-finals, the team had to move to the Berlin Olympic Stadium , as 56,540 spectators wanted to see the game against Chemnitzer FC . With a 2-1 win, the amateurs secured participation in the final at the same venue. In the final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen , Höpfner was initially not in the starting line-up, but was substituted on for Oliver Schmidt after 73 minutes . Four minutes later he lost a header against Ulf Kirsten , who thereby scored the decisive 0: 1. Unlike his teammates from the final such as Christian Fiedler , Carsten Ramelow and Andreas Schmidt , Höpfner did not make it into Hertha’s second division team .

In 1994 he signed a contract with Kickers Emden . With the Kickers, Höpfner reached fourth place in the third- tier Regionalliga Nord in 1994/95 and 1995/96 , which means that promotion was missed twice. In Emden, however, he was unable to establish himself in the regular eleven.

In 1996 Sascha Höpfner went to SpVg Aurich before moving to TuS Pewsum . With Pewsum he rose from the district league to the state league and in 2003 to the Lower Saxony league . However, TuS could not assert itself there and immediately relegated. In the summer of 2005, Sascha Höpfner ended his playing career in order to concentrate on his professional career.
