Sascha Stiehler
Sascha Stiehler (born January 27, 1988 in Zwickau ) is a German pianist and composer.
Life
At the age of six Sascha Stiehler received his first classical piano lessons, from the age of 14 he started with jazz piano. From 1998 to 2006 he attended the “Clara-Wieck” music specialty school in Zwickau. Between 2004 and 2006 he was a member of the State Youth Jazz Orchestra of Saxony. In 2005 he successfully took part in the national youth jazz competition.
From 2004 to 2006 Stiehler was a junior promotional class student at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . From 2006 to 2013 he completed his studies in jazz piano with Richie Beirach .
In 2007 Sascha Stiehler founded the quartet "Change Request" with saxophonist Antonio Lucaciu , drummer Jan Roth and bassist Matthias Eichhorn . Together with Antonio Lucaciu, Robert Lucaciu and the Jazzclub Leipzig eV, he leads and initiated the “Liveclub Telegraph” in Leipzig in 2010. In the same year he founded the Egolaut music label with Antonio and Robert Lucaciu . Since 2009 he has been a member of Evgeny Ring's quartet . In 2011 he played with Norman Sinn to support Herbert Grönemeyer's tour .
Since 2011, Sascha Stiehler, together with Antonio Lucaciu, the Saxon Music Council and the State Music Academy of Saxony, has been initiating the annual workshop "Jazz and improvised music" for young musical talents from Central Germany.
In April 2012 the duo Stiehler / Lucaciu released the album "Clara Park". The subsequent “Duo meets friends” tour with over 30 concerts was organized exclusively by fans after a call from the band. In May of the same year Sascha Stiehler was artistic director of the 13th Greizer Jazzwerk together with Antonio Lucaciu, Robert Lucaciu and Cornelius Häschel.
In 2013, together with Antonio Lucaciu, Sascha Stiehler composed the work “As much you need” for string ensemble, choir, percussion, piano and saxophone on behalf of the 34th German Evangelical Church Congress . The world premiere at the Inner Alster and the port basin in Hamburg on May 1, 2013 saw over 250,000 people. At the same time, the work was released on the Egolaut music label as a single CD.
On October 1st, 2013 the duo Stiehler / Lucaciu released the album “Kompott geht immer” and went on a two-month tour through Germany.
In spring 2014 he and Antonio Lucaciu initiated an artists' house in the Plagwitz district of Leipzig. In autumn 2014, the “Duo goes through” tour followed with the Duo Stiehler / Lucaciu. Then Sascha Stiehler went on tour with the band Hundreds.
Since 2015 he has been the musical director of the winner of the fourth season of "The Voice of Germany", Charley Ann Schmutzler.
In 2016 he founded the five-piece pop band "Egolaut" together with Antonio Lucaciu. Together with Charley Ann Schmutzler and Egolaut, he went on a tour of Germany in May 2016.
A tour of Russia followed in autumn 2016 with the Evgeny Ring Quartet.
On April 21, 2017 Egolaut released the first EP "No resistance, only heat".
Sascha Stiehler has been married to the photographer Sandra Ludewig since 2016. Together they photograph concerts and tours by artists such as Helene Fischer, Roland Kaiser and Ina Müller.
