Satya Nandan
Satya N. Nandan (born July 10, 1936 in Suva , † before or on February 26, 2020 in New York City ) was a Fijian lawyer and diplomat .
Career
Nandan graduated from the University of London with a law degree and was a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln's Inn . He was a lawyer and notary public at the Supreme Court of Fiji . From 1970 to 1976 and from 1993 to 1995 he was his country's representative at the United Nations . Between 1976 and 1980 he was ambassador to the European Union, in Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
From March 1996 he was Secretary General of the International Seabed Authority for 12 years . From January 1, 2009, he was chairman of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission .
