The Sauerbach is a brook in the Welland near Aalen in eastern Baden-Württemberg. The eel arises from its confluence with the Rombach .

course

The Sauerbach arises in the triangle of Aalen- Rauburr , Aalen- Rauental and Essingen - Oberkolbenhof from the confluence of several, partly only temporarily water-bearing ditches and very soon turns south. According to the topographical map, the topmost point of constant water flow is about 494  m above sea level. NHN . The stream flows east past Essingen- Forst and takes on the Forstbach from the right . After not quite half its length at Essingen train station, leaving a large clay pit on its right, it permanently changes direction and flows as a mostly straightened, small step-edge water in front of the Alb eaves towards the east-northeast.

From the left and from the north it soon reaches the Katzenbach and a little later, already in the Aalen area near Sauerbach, from the right the Erlenbach . It then separates Aalen-Hofherrnweiler in the north from a large industrial area in the south and flows a little later on the Aalener Dürrwiesen at 435  m above sea level. NHN , after a total distance of about 6.5 km, with the Rombach coming from the north , which creates the eel .

The catchment area of Sauerbach bordered to the east and northeast of the of Rombach , in the northwest of competing for flax flowing Laubach , the west and southwest the upper Rems and their tributaries. To the south lies the heavily karstified Alb plateau, which is drained from some karst springs in the southeast, which feed the upper Kocher .

On the last quarter of its course, the Sauerbach flows into the Aalen district, above it through the Essingen area , except for two very short sections high on the upper reaches where two narrow projections of the Aalen district border extend a little way over the brook.

Until it turns to the east-northeast at Essingen train station, the stream is accompanied by the L 1080, then the B 29 and the Remsbahn Stuttgart – Aalen.
