history

The history of the Vaillant Group begins in 1874 when Johann Vaillant founded a master craftsman's workshop . In 1894 Johann Vaillant applied for a patent for a new type of gas bath heater "closed system".

The device made it possible for the first time to hygienically heat water without coming into contact with the combustion gases. At that time, this represented a technical innovation with which Johann Vaillant permanently shaped the development of heating technology. At the same time, this opened up a new market segment. Another technical milestone followed in 1924 with the development of the first central heating boiler . This enabled a building to be heated with a central heating device and several radiators in individual rooms, which is still common today.

Important developments in the company's history include the market launch of the first wall-mounted Circo-Geyser circulating water heater in 1961 and the first self-developed and produced wall-mounted boiler based on condensing technology in 1995. Internationalization and expansion followed in 2001 with the takeover of the British Hepworth Group the brand and product portfolio as well as the sales and production network. The internationalization was pushed further in 2007 with the takeover of the majority stake in the Turkish heating and air conditioning specialist Türk Demir Döküm Fabrikalari.

For several years now, the Vaillant Group has been focusing increasingly on technologies based on renewable energies. The production of heat pumps began in 2006 . In 2008 the first own production of thermal solar collectors followed on an industrial scale. Today, products based on gas condensing technology, heat pumps and systems that combine several technical systems form the core business.

The Vaillant Group is socially committed at all of the family company's locations in Europe and Asia. The Vaillant Group maintains a long-term partnership with “ SOS Children's Villages worldwide”.
Around the world, children's villages in Germany, France, Belgium, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Hungary, Ukraine and China have been equipped with modern heating technology from Vaillant.
