action

The almost deaf and mute Zoe wants to drive to visit her Afro-American fiancé Dane. While driving through a lonely area of New Mexico , she takes photos with her cell phone and is just about to dodge and stop when suddenly a man is standing in the middle of the street. In the distance, she observes how some men chase another man in their car and run over him. Zoe loads the man, who has almost been run over by her and who has since collapsed, into her car, but the men have already spotted her and surround her. The men, who turn out to be degenerate rednecks with a racist worldview, stab the man in Zoe's car because he is an Indian and kidnap Zoe to a farm.

On the farm, the men tie up Zoe with barbed wire, and one of them tells how his great-great-grandfather hunted Indians. He proudly presents the chiefs' skulls to Zoe. He likes the skull and the story of Apache chief Mangas Coloradas best . After the men raped Zoe, one of them stabbed Zoe and buried her in the desert.

An Indian shaman finds her corpse and tries to revive her. During the ritual, however, the spirit Mangas Coloradas' takes possession of her and uses her for a campaign of revenge against the men. First, Zoe goes to a pay phone and calls her friend Dane via collect. She sees one of her tormentors, an assistant sheriff, going into a pub. She follows him, smashes his beer bottle and rips the entrails out of his abdomen. In the end, she stabs him with the beer bottle. Next, she steals a bow and arrow in a barn and shoots another rapist the next morning. Dane, who located the payphone, has meanwhile driven into town and is looking for her. The men take him hostage and keep him prisoner in an old warehouse.

Zoe feels weak and maggots populate her body; therefore she goes back to the shaman. He tells her that the spell is short-lived. Zoe gets a tomahawk and a knife from Mangas Coloradas and heads to the warehouse for the showdown . Zoe kills the remaining men with the guns. Finally, she kills Trey's mother and Trey, who seriously injured her with a chainsaw. Dane redeems Zoe by burning and burying her. Zoe and Mangas Colorada's ghosts leave Zoe's body and float away.
