The Savoy Dance Orchestra was founded in 1993 in Berlin by the singer Robin Merrill and Stefan Warmuth, the musical director of the Wintergarten . Robin Merrill continues his past as a singer with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra . The repertoire is similar but is expanded to include swing from the 1920s to 1940s. There are also adaptations of modern pop songs and film scores that fit into the repertoire, as well as classics such as B. George Gershwin .

description

The orchestra name was chosen after the Savoy Hotel in London, where Robin Merrill gave his farewell concert with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra in 1988.

The international ensemble is made up of first-class soloists who have already made a remarkable career in other orchestras , bands or with solo performances .

After many successful concerts and gala appearances at home and abroad, Robin Merrill and Stefan Warmuth accepted the invitation of the Berlin Wintergarten Varieté in November 1999 to perform the millennium show "As Time Goes By" together with the Savoy Dance Orchestra (director: Bernhard Paul ) showcase.

The success with the audience and much praise from critics led the "Savoy Dance Orchestra" to further guest performances in the Friedrichsbau-Varieté in Stuttgart and in Roncalli's Apollo Varieté in Düsseldorf, such as the renewed appearance in the Berlin Wintergarten in November 2001 with the Christmas show "Swingle Bells ". There are also concert engagements , galas, festival appearances and ball events.
