Scent of Death is a technical death metal band that was formed in Ourense , Galicia ( Spain ) in 1998 .
history
The band was founded in September 1998 by guitarist Jorge Fernández and bassist Carlos F. Carballo. Later that year, guitarist Bernardo and drummer Nuno joined the band. In the summer of 1999, David finally joined the band as a singer. In March 2000, the band played together with Regnum Irae at a live concert in Anoeta . Three months later, singer David left the band again due to musical differences.
In September 2001 they recorded their first EP Entangled in Hate in Taller de Mùsica , Ourense, Spain, which was produced by the band themselves. Bernardo took over the part of the singer and was supported by Jorge.
At the end of November 2002 singer Luis joined the band. In December 2002 the band played together for the first time in two years, with bands like Hamlet , Avulsed , Myself and Trut 69 in La Burbuja , Ourense.
In February 2003 the band performed at the Brutal as Hell Fest together with Imperious Malevolence ( Brazil ), Human Mincer and Chamber of Shred. On April 25th the band performed for the first time outside of Spain, namely in Portugal , at the Steel Warriors Rebellion Fest VI in Baroselas . You were there as the opening band for groups like Enthroned , Damnable , Internal Suffering or Sanatorium .
In December 2002 the band signed a contract with Necromance Records . In February 2004 drummer Nuno left the band and Alfred Berengena was hired as a session member for the new album. The band split from their label in November 2004 and signed with Bloody Productions (Spain).
In January 2005 the drums were recorded in the Tribal Art Music Studios in Girona , the rest was then completed in March 2005 in the GonSound Studios in Vigo . The album Woven in the Book of Hate was released in June 2005.
style
The sound of Scent of Death is reminiscent of bands like Immolation , Deeds of Flesh and Morbid Angel . The latter were covered on the album Woven in the Book of Hate . Characteristic for the band are the technical aspects that are included in the music, the varied playing of the drums and the extremely deep growling .
