description

The beautiful flowering barberry is an evergreen, dwarf shrub that has a broad habit and rarely grows higher than 1 meter; young shoots are colored red. The up to 6 centimeters long, elliptical to elongated holly-like leaves are glossy dark green on the top and white waxy on the underside. The hanging pale yellow flowers are up to 2.5 centimeters wide, stand individually, in twos or threes and appear in spring. The egg-shaped fruits are deep purple and frosted with gray.

Occurrence

Berberis calliantha is native to the humid mountains of southeast Tibet .
