Schönfeld is a district of the municipality of Kamern in the Stendal district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).

geography

The district of Schönfeld lies on the northwestern edge of the state of Schollene , a wooded terminal moraine arch . Between Schönfeld and the Elbe, which runs three kilometers to the west, lie the extensive Elbe meadows with numerous ditches; to the east the Kamernschen or Rehberger Mountains rise up to 110 meters above sea level. The city of Havelberg is around twelve kilometers from Schönfeld.

Schönfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1420.

Until December 31, 2009, Schönfeld was an independent municipality and belonged to the Elbe-Havel-Land administrative community .

On May 20, 2009, the municipal council of the municipality of Schönfeld decided to incorporate the municipality of Schönfeld into the municipality of Kamern by means of an area change agreement. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local regulatory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2010.

213 inhabitants lived on a community area of ​​20.3 km² (December 31, 2008).

The coat of arms was designed in 1996 by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch . The sheaf refers to the place name and is therefore a talking coat of arms. As early as the 1940s there was a community seal with a coat of arms showing the same symbolism. This forerunner coat of arms was designed by State Archives Councilor Otto Korn .

The community of Schönfeld is located on the federal highway 107 from Havelberg to Genthin .

The Schönhausen – Sandau railway line , where the Schönfeld (Elbe) stop existed, was closed in 1997. The next rail connection is in Schönhausen (Elbe) ( Lehrter Bahn ), 15 kilometers away .

Regular buses run by Regionalverkehr Westsachsen (RVW) under the brand name stendalbus .
