Schaafsdorf is located on the northern edge of Heygendorf and in the fertile Helme - Unstrut lowlands east of Artern .

history

Schaafsdorf was first mentioned in 1265 in the document book I 412 of the Walkenried monastery . Schaafsdorf was a settlement that belonged to the Heygendorf manor. This affiliation ended in 1830. In 1923, both places united to form a community. With the territorial reform in the GDR , the village came to the Artern district in the Halle district in 1952 , and then to the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia in 1994.
