The Schefenacker Reise- und Verkehrs-GmbH & Co. KG , based in Esslingen am Neckar , operated as a private bus company in regular and occasional transport . Until December 31, 2018, it operated bus routes within the Stuttgart Transport and Tariff Association (VVS). The company also appeared as a tour operator through its subsidiary Extratours GmbH & Co. KG .

history

In 1927 Hermann Schefenacker from Aichschieß acquired a bus with which he carried out regular scheduled services from Esslingen via Plochingen , Baltmannsweiler , Hohengehren , Winterbach and Weiler to Schorndorf . In the following years the vehicle fleet was enlarged and business was expanded to include company trips at home and abroad.

After all the buses for war purposes had moved in, regular service with two buses was resumed in 1945.

After Hermann Schefenacker's death in 1959, his son Erich took over the management. The fleet now consisted of 22 buses.

After Erich Schefenacker's death in 1972, his wife Elisabeth took over the business, who ran it with her future husband Ernst Stöck.

In 1977 the depot in Sirnau was opened.

In 1983, in the bus tourism sector, four other bus companies from the Stuttgart region joined forces and the tour operator Extratours was founded . The company Bader-Reisen from Grafenberg left Extratours in January 2010, so that Schefenacker was most recently the sole shareholder of Extratours.

In 1998, Schefenacker took a stake in the Schmid bus company in Schlierbach , which was then transferred to Omnibusverkehr Schlierbach GmbH (OVS).

After the tender for bus services by the Esslingen district , the company lost all of its lines in 2017 and 2018 with the exception of line 178 operated by the subsidiary OVS. Since this could no longer be operated economically on its own, the company gave its license back prematurely. The depot in Esslingen-Sirnau was sold.

In the last few years Schefenacker employed around 50 people and owned around 30 buses.
