Schein was a funk rock band founded in Freising , Bavaria in 1999 .
history
They took their first musical steps in jam sessions , where the final line-up was decided. The band celebrated their first success in 2003, namely as “ Munich Band of the Year” and in 2004 released their debut album Gestatten Sie . This was followed by a tour with over 300 concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and a few concerts in Italy and Spain. Two years after the release of the first record, the second album, ExtraPortion , was released in 2006 , which ties in with the typical sham sound and is difficult to pin down to the term funk . In 2008 Schein won the Austrian Newcomer Award for best foreign band. Their third album is called Wir sind der Funk and was released on March 6, 2009 via Rough Trade Distribution in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They played their last concert on December 26th, 2011 in Freising.
style
Mainly Schein's music can be traced back to funk rock. For example, in the title We fly ( ExtraPortion 2006) parallels to the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the bass, guitar and vocals can be found. Schein create a mixture of funk, rock and power pop elements. The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: "Schein sound like the Red Hot Chili Peppers that Beck play with horns and sing in German."
