history

The settlement name Scheurenfeld goes back to the name of the tub of the same name , which is recorded in the original cadastre east of the hamlet of Kattemich .

etymology

The defining word Scheuren is derived from the Middle High German schuir and Old High German sciura and denotes a barn. In field names it is mostly a field barn. From the original sense of protection, umbrella of the Middle High German schur , there was later a shift in importance as a building that served to protect the crops from harmful weather influences.
