The Seelsheide is a district in the Katterbach district in Bergisch Gladbach .
history
According to the number list of the municipality of Paffrath, the former hamlet of Seelsheide had five houses and farms from 1782 to 1790. In addition to the spelling Seelsheide in the original cadastre , the forms Sehlsheyd and Seilsheid can also be found in the early 19th century . The name Seelsheide means that it is a farm on the heath .
Brick factory
Before the First World War there was a ring kiln brickworks in Seelsheide that processed local clay deposits. Around 1,000 bricks were made every day. In 1918 the plant had to be closed because British occupation troops seized the buildings.
Street name
With the appearance of the street names, the street leading to the Seelsheide settlement was given the same name as early as 1893.
Geology and mining
The northwesternmost point of the Paffrath Kalkmulde is located in Seelsheide . In the 19th century, mining was carried out here on the Romeo mine.
