Klutstein is a district in the Katterbach district in Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The naming date for the district of Klutstein is before 1893. The construction of a house is documented for around 1900. The name Klutstein was first mentioned in 1641 in the form of Klauchsteen .

etymology

The word Klutstein is an old field name that referred to the earlier limestone extraction , which was here in various quarries. In addition to the dialectal form Kloochsteen , the names Glutstein and Kluftstein are also known. The determining word may have come from the Middle Low German Klute developed its basic meaning something together Concentrated , Lumpy or Piled referred. It thus refers to an elevation or a hill. But it can also come from the old language form Kluftstein . In this case there would be a reference to the Middle High German kluft (= rock crevice , cave, mining passage).
