Hülsenanger is a district in the Katterbach district in Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The name Hülsenanger is based on a tub designation that is recorded in the original cadastre in the dialectal form of Hölzenfeld . It was named after the Hölzen settlement mentioned in 1444 , which, according to the original cadastre, was located on Kempener Strasse at the height of today's Hülsenanger Strasse.

etymology

The defining word sleeve is derived from the Middle High German huls and from the Old High German hulis . It is a synonym for the plant species holly (Ilex). The basic word anger is often used for field with the same meaning. It corresponds to the Old High German angar and mostly refers to a fenced grass area near a settlement.
