The Schiahorn or Gross Schiahorn is a mountain peak in Switzerland , between the Parsenn and Schatzalp -Strela ski areas , northwest of Davos .
Location and description
The Schiahorn is located in the southeast of the municipality of Davos, in the northwest in the equally large Schanfigger municipality of Arosa (formerly Langwies ). The upstream Chlein Schiahorn , 2585 m, lies entirely in the Davos area . Geologically, the Schiahorn is one of the Arosa Dolomites .
To the southeast of the summit is the Strela Pass , from where the summit can be reached on a mountain path. In 1934 the rock path through the western flank of the Schiahorn was opened, which connects the Strelapass with the Hauptertälli in Sapün and the Wasserscheidi .
Avalanche barriers
The entire south-eastern slope of the Chlein Schiahorn is secured with avalanche barriers, a lasting impression when you visit Davos.
